ARCHIVE MEMORIAL:
a residence for memory

ARCHIVE MEMORIAL is a project situated in Harajuku off the Yamanote line, designed during a Tokyo study abroad. The site, previously a neglected and empty lot containing only a small family burial plot, inspired the exploration of memorial and death in Japanese culture. The design features a zakkyo building with an adjoining underground memory museum and a tranquil courtyard above, creating a layered space that honors the site’s history while integrating contemporary urban life.
